Ph.D, Chemistry, University of Wisconsin-Madison, 2021

B.S., Chemistry, University of Chicago, 2016

Michael Roy was born in Wisconsin, though he moved to Iowa and then Maryland. He made his way to Chicago for college, where he obtained his B.S. in chemistry from the University of Chicago. While there, he studied transmetalation in dual transition metal systems in the lab of Prof. Jared Lewis. Michael then moved back to Wisconsin to earn his PhD at UW-Madison under the supervision of Prof. John Berry, studying the electronic structure of high-valent diruthenium complexes. Currently, he is investigating lanthanide-lanthanide interactions in mixed-valent systems.
