Matilda, or Tilly, is originally from Chicago, IL and got her bachelors degree in chemistry from Michigan State University. While there, she worked with Dr. Babak Borhan on the total synthesis of obtusin. Following graduation, she worked as a Post-Bachelors Research Fellow with the National Security Directorate at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. There, she studied the coordination chemistry and spectroscopic properties of trivalent lanthanides, neptunium, and americium under the guidance of Dr. Ana Arteaga.
